2008 Ceritas Pinot Noir Escarpa Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (1/9/2012)
Popped and poured to accompany baked salmon. Bright ruby hue. Nose of sea air, lilac, cherry blossum, raspberry, a bit of forest floor. Pure, intense flavors of red raspberry, cranberry, bing cherry, and anise on the palate delivered with precision cut and a beautiful satin texture. Refreshing acidity and structured but fine-grained tannins. Long finish marked by echoes of cherry fruit and a lash of minerality. This wine dances on the tongue and is a real delight. (92 pts.)

2007 Ceritas Pinot Noir Escarpa Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (1/2/2012)
Glad to have followed this winery from the very beginning. This is my 1st pinot from Ceritas and it follows my 1st chard a few days ago from the same vintage which was a brilliant rendition. This shows a nose of earthy cherry and raspberry with some violets. As the wine enters the mouth you immediately get a sense that this is something special as there are no rough edges. The palate follows the nose with exquisite balance of delicious sappy/earthy cherry and raspberry notes that lead to a very lengthy finish with perfectly balanced acidity lifting up the sappy cherry/raspberry fruit. Lip smacking good with a haunting beautifully balanced finish that makes one beg for another sip. Consumed over 2 nights. The wine needed some time to blossom and held up great on night 2.

Joe and Russ,
Very impressed with the Ceritas pinots and glad you have had good experiences too. I am sure they can age but I am not giving them much a of a chance to do so!
Cheers,
Doug
