2008 Carlisle Zinfandel Sonoma County - USA, California, Sonoma County (4/12/2010)
Bottles arrived in the AM and had one popped open by early evening. Poured black and inky. Huge notes of crushed violets and lavender and flax, meaty and full throttle black ripe fruit, some cola, and a good amounts of sage and hickory. Really, really nice. If there is a better qpr in California, please let me know. (91 pts.)

What’s not to like? My only problem is that I never order enough of it.
Very true, I’d take a full case of this over some of the single vineyard wines, there really isn’t that much of a difference qualitatively.
In a lot of ways, this bottling is exactly what I want from a zin. Tasty, fun to drink, and I don’t have to think about it too much (cost-wise or otherwise) while I break out bottles while I am BBQing for the gang.
We had one of thes with Kimberly’s parents the last time we were down. I loved the florals on the nose accompanying the red and black fruits. The addition of the carignan and petite really adds to the back end, giving nice structure and extra length.
Well done, once again. Amazing QPR!
