TN: 2008 Cameron Hughes Cabernet Sauvignon Lot 188 Chalk Hill

  • 2008 Cameron Hughes Cabernet Sauvignon Lot 188 Chalk Hill - USA, California, Sonoma County, Chalk Hill (1/3/2011)
Tasted over 3 days - pretty consistent over time. Nose a bit tight but showing cement dust and crushed blackberry. Some simple tart red candied fruit flavors with plenty of soft, chalky tannins. Finish shows some heat. Medium bodied with quite a round and lush mouthfeel - probably some Merlot blended in here. Well balanced. Overall, a good wine for $13, but lacked some varietal character and the candied fruit profile was not entirely to my liking. Still, probably worth keeping a couple of these around to enjoy with non-wino friends. (87 pts.)
