i bought this bottle to cook with and was pleasantly surprised (excellent to cook with lamb - accented the lamb perfectly - roman style baby lamb recipe by mario batali). cost $8.
Viura is a new grape for me. Soft and simple, but floral with delicate fruit.

Viura is the Rioja, Navarra and Rueda name for macabeo, which is also a major white variety in Penedès, Priorat, Alella, Montsant, Manchuela and, as maccabeu or maccabéo, in France´s Roussillon. Most whites from Rioja, including Viña Tondonia, are varietal or quasi-varietal viuras. It´s actually rather rare in Navarra, and Concha Vecino, Nekeas´ winemaker, does by far the best job with it in the appellation.
