TN: 2007 Williams Selyem Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast

Having submitted my 2009 order this week, and since I had not opened a single 2007 WS yet, i popped one with dinner:

  • 2007 Williams Selyem Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (2/11/2011)
Really in a nice place. Initially a blast of bright cherry fruit; as it opened up, more notes of cherry, blackberry and cola, smooth tannins, some spice. Not much oak or toast. A very long finish. (92 pts.)

Thanks, Bruce. I contemplated opening this for Valentine’s Day dinner tonight, but went with the 07 Central Coast instead. I’ll post a note tomorrow. Did you decant?

We’re doing the '06 Rochioli Riverblock for Valentines dinner tonight. Seems to be a good trend. [cheers.gif]

Yes, I decanted, but I poured my first taste minutes after opening the bottle and then input my note about a half-hour later. It did not improve much more than it was 45 minutes after opening, but then again, I thought it was pretty good at that point in time. I had the rest today. It had a bit more heat than I remembered last night. For their bargain Sonoma Pinot, pretty nice!

I have not had their Sonoma Coast, but would be curious to try. Since I am cutting back on purchases (I am way over stocked), all I ordered this year was 2 Sonoma Coast, 2 Russian River, and 1 Westside Neighbors.
