This Bordeaux blend (60 merlot, 28CFranc,6 PV,6 malbec) has proven to me overandoverthat Washington state is making some really great wines at affordable prices. Grabbed this at costco today for 33 or 36 bucks.
It has been open for 2.5 hours with a partial glass poured out of the bottle while I was at a birthday party for one of my son’s schoolmates. And after that, I need a drink.
Nose reminds me a bit of QC with a white flower note that I’ve always found in their wines. Caramel, black fruits and a hint of roasted meat.
The mouthfeel on this shows a great deal of softness and the wine does lack defined structure. As I’m not eating as I drink this isn’t bothering me but it is, for the price, a slight derogatory. Tannic structure has softened and integrated providing some silkiness in the mouth.
There is a touch of lingering oak that fights with the wine on the finish. But it’s certainly not unpleasant and well integrated. The petit verdot and malbec are obvious in this wine and id be very curious toseehow this wine would be structurally without them.
I’ll report back if this evolves over the course of the night.
88-91 points and certainly enjoyable.
