Last night I wanted to celebrate the end of the weekend with a nice dinner. I cooked up some Arctic Char and some fresh corn he had gotten from a farm stand near Poughkeepsie. Decided to open something nice for the meal.
2007 Siduri Hirsch Vineyard Pinot Noir - Deep ruby color with a very expressive nose. Little bit of funk up front with blackberry, earth, cherry, and tobacco. On the palate it was just delicious with a silky texture, medium weight, and very good complexity. There were raspberry and meat flavors with a nice mineral streak that came in with an hour of air. Nice acid to cut the fat of the fish and a long complex finish. Still young and wild, should keep evolving for another 5-7 years.
