TN: 2007 Selbach-Oster Zeltinger Schlossberg Riesling Spätlese

  • 2007 Selbach-Oster Zeltinger Schlossberg Riesling Spätlese “Schmitt” - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (1/1/2010)
An intriguing interplay of subtle apple, quince and pear, with notions of red berries and melon, mixed with a smoky flintiness. Marvelous silky, creamy texture and beautifully balanced. A definite wow! wine. (94 pts.)

Sulphur on the nose blew off with some time. Expressive nose of slate, and white florals. Palate was like drinking freshly squeezed mango, pineapple and guava juice that has just been drizzled over and through cracked rocks. Really unique and interesting combination. One of the more powerful 2007 spatleses i’ve had thus far. (91 pts.)

I dropped and broke a bottle of this the other day, cutting my foot…

Hurts even more to read a review…
