TN: 2007 Rivers-Marie Pinot Noir Willow Creek Vineyard

  • 2007 Rivers-Marie Pinot Noir Willow Creek Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (9/12/2009)
Instantly recognizable as Sonoma Coast with a strong pine element amongst the more cranberry and cherry elements. Rich and dark, one of the seemingly more extracted RM’s I’ve had or maybe just more richer fleshy fruited. Brawny, almost big. Maybe could have used a bit more acidity to balance it. Not a lot of complexity. This might get better with age but it didn’t really hit me that way. Good Pinot but not TRB’s best RM.

Took to dinner with some fellow Berserkers so hopefully they will chime in with what they can remember. Loved the strong Sonoma element but a bit brawny and broad for a RM.

Thanks for the note Cris. I’ve yet to try any of my 2007s but I would expect this to eventually come around.

'Tis sir. [cheers.gif]

I’d love to chime in, but I can’t recall that wine at all - don’t think I tried any!

Cris, it did not leave an impression with me but we had a lot of wines, I was not taking notes and the food was not pinot food, IMO. Much more suited to the Barolo and maybe even the Carlisle I brought along. I should have spent more time with the RM and I do appreciate you bringing it.

Thanks for the note. Going to continue to hold mine for a few years. The RMs are big pinots so I am a little worried about the low acidity.
