TN: 2007 Rhys Pinot Noir Family Farm Vineyard

  • 2007 Rhys Pinot Noir Family Farm Vineyard - USA, California, San Francisco Bay, San Mateo County (7/29/2012)
Followed over 3 days, with very consistent notes throughout that time. I was very keen to try this alongside an '07 Bachelet CdN Villages, with the Rhys and the Bachelet both drinking well and possessing similar fruit and structure profiles. This wine has a nice perfume of black roses, tea and cherry skin. There’s a sense of balance between the (mildly) sweet fruit and tannin that, while certainly still young, should open up nicely in the near term and drink (I suspect) quite nicely over the next several years. Proved to be a fun comparison with the Bachelet, and should improve into a very sneaky good wine.
