TN: 2007 Philippe Pacalet Gevrey-Chambertin

From the recent Chambers stash.
This is an amazing wine to sit down with and explore with a leisurely dinner. There’s a sensation of incredibly bright and pure strawberry and cherry fruit with floral and green herbal accents initially, but with air it unravels and shows remarkable depth and nuance for a village wine as all sorts of savoury brothy and minerally elements emerge with bright acids underneath keeping it very precise and refreshing. Outstanding wine, and I hope that my other bottles show this well.

Thanks for the note. I bought a few from the Chambers offer myself. Need to try one to see how it is faring. I’m not really familiar with Pacalet, except from wine notes.

Thanks for the note. Glad I picked some up these up at CSW. $32/bottle is seeming like a great deal.

How would you say it compares to the Fourrier village bottling?

No so2, right?

I bought a few bottles from that offer.

The 2007 Chambolle villages was pretty funky with a very cloudy appearance.

I didn’t find the fruit to be very expressive and the acidity stuck out. Drank over a couple of hours and the next day and it didn’t change much.

Reminded me more of a Jura wine than Chambolle. I like the style in general but this was not a good example.

Maybe they didn’t like coming across the country…

No, not right, they’re sulfured at bottling.

Thank you.
