A science experiment gone bad. Bacterially flawed, cloudy and sure to spawn some new, deviant form of life if given long enough in the glass. Spoiled cider would be a huge improvement.
Yes, it’s a bad bottle. It is one of the worst bottles I have ever had the displeasure to experience.
I bought a few 2007 and 2008 Pacalets from Chambers a couple of years ago just to see what was up.
None were that bad, as in off, but none were near compelling. OK in a natural style generally. Poor value.
Claude Kolm loves Pacalet. I can’t quite figure that one.
Checking my notes I appear to have had a “good” bottle of the 2007 Chambolle 1er. Still didn’t do it for me though. “Rather have Jura for 1/2 the price” is the gist of my Pacalet notes.
Had this at a restaurant. Sommelier tried his best to warn me off but I was willing to take the gamble. Definitely some funk and a hint of spritz in there but that aside it was lovely. I can still taste it now, 2 years later!
