TN: 2007 Michel Magnien Bourgogne-Grand-Ordinaire (France, Burgundy, Bourgogne-Grand-Ordinaire)

    12.5% alcohol. Surprising how well this is drinking right now. Opened three hours before drinking but not decanted. Pretty red color. Lovely bouquet of red cherry, flowers, and rocks. In the mouth, decidedly youthful but with a luscious kick of cherry fruit that makes it very appealing. Good structure, with strong acidity and a tannic kick on the finish. But the fruit marries well with complexity, and this is a winner. A-

I didn’t know anyone made grand-ordinaire anymore. That’s pretty obscure. How much, if I may ask?

Hi Tom, is it “required” or “permitted” to have gamay in it and does this version? I have the same question about Passetoutgrains also, as I’ve noticed Chevillon puts out some.

Passetoutgrains can have Gamay in it … looking at the BGO allowances, it says all grapes allowed in Burg are allowed in it …
