Well I guess it’s a good thing that I don’t use points because I would bring down the community average here. Decanted 2 hours and drank over 5. Huge nose of chocolate covered berries right from the start, this continues on to the palate with compact dark fruit and cocoa that is very nice, but rather sweet and round. No tannin structure or much acidity to keep the sweet fruit in check. One to two glasses and I was fatiged, while there is no doubt the fruit is top quality there just wasn’t enough structure to balance it all out which made the wine seem over the top for my palate.

While I’m sure this would be a crowd favorite I preferred the '05 and '06 as this was just sweet and big for me.

Joe,

I agree with you on the low levels of acidity, but that is not a negative in my book, as the wine was never syrupy the way some low acid wines are. And mine had plenty of tannin, which kept the wine in balance to me, without being drying on the palate. So, this is simply why its good that there are plenty of different kinds of wine out there.

Bruce,

I saw your note the other day and kinda based my decant time from it. Funny thing is that while your’s was closed upon opening, my bottle seemed ready to go as soon as I pulled the cork. Not a bad wine, but with so many 100pt CT reviews and comments like “best wine I’ve ever tasted” I just thought I give a different view. Just expected a more structured wine at this stage. Baby fat?
