TN: 2007 Jones Family The Sisters (USA, California, Napa Valley)

How do they pack so much richness and purity into this? Know whose hands were on this and it turns to a rhetorical question.
Nose of a quiet red/black variety today. Color shows purple tinged crimson. More red than black too. CF has quieted down a bit today. Palate is insane. Red cherries, black raspberries, cardamom, cassis, tar, graphite and all-- pretty much ‘the works’ that any Cab lover wants & craves. The key to this wine is it’s delivery system: it is a conveyor of multi layerd waves of fruit with just a hint of sweetness. hints of cola, leather and framboise. This today is showy, pure, focused and super rich with a medium weight lush toned mouth feel and a balance that is exact and refined. Don’t get me wrong, tannins are huge and acidity half a point above the rest, but this baby is made for comfort with a long life ahead of itself. Finish just carries all the stuff I spoke of and gives you a deja-vu minutes after its gone. I want to sit with this all day and see where her ride takes me. (94 pts.)

Slut.

Nice note.

Guilty—but it feels SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good. [cheers.gif]

Thanks mike. Your notes are awesome and keep me on my toes to make sure I have a nice stock of these on hand. I havent opened this one yet, but it’s hard to beat this for the price for sure.

Thanks, Tim. Best deal in the valley—Year in and out.
Cheers!

Without a doubt.

Not trying to start a fight…

HL Two Old Dogs Cab (EII for the old timers).

Dude, not even close. [snort.gif] [snort.gif]

Let me just add that this 07 is a very A-typical Sisters. Usually more elegant and structured, this leans more showy and in your face. My favorite is still the 2006. (although this is PRETTY awesome for a snowy Saturday in the ‘burbs’.)

Is it a crime that in most vintages i prefer the sisters to the flagship?

Nope. Very different wines stylistically, not just the ‘leftovers’. Estate is awesome with some years in bottle.

I may not go quite that far, but I wouldn’t argue with you either.

Funny, I almost opened an '05 Sisters this afternoon to watch college hoops (Go Irish! Beat Orange!) but went with another “daily drinker” that drinks far beyond its price (‘07 Andrew Will Cabernet, Mays’ Discovery). Excellent juice as always but your note makes me wish I had poured the Sisters. I guess it just mean I have plenty of great juice to look forward to!

Cheers! [welldone.gif]

I don’t think so at all. I’m in your camp and prefer the Sisters by a wide margin. Its a relief to prefer the lower priced one actually.

I think 4 out of 5 times if blindly served a Sisters alongside the Estate from the same vintage, the Estate come out on top.
Just sayin’ as I have done this a ‘few’ times…
