2007 Jean et Gilles LaFouge Auxey-Duresses 1er Cru Climat du Val - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Auxey-Duresses 1er Cru (3/16/2014)
Popped and poured to accompany roast pork loin. Light ruby color. Nose of cherry blossom and raspberry, with hints of stoniness. Delicious and somewhat candied cherry fruit on the palate at first, morphing later into a deeper, earthier layering of black raspberry, anise, and iron bits. Remained light- to medium-bodied but with good structure and intensity of fruit. Moderate acidity and softer tannins. Longer finish echoed pure, briary red fruit and earthy tones. Just delightful, and amazing for the price. Should have backed up the truck on this one. (91 pts.)
