TN: 2007 Hardin Cabernet Sauvignon (USA, California, Napa Va

Hmmmm. Sweet red and black fruits on the nose. Palate is an elevator ride of fruits on acidity. The mid-palate is hallow and the finish a bit clipped. Typical for what I have found in many 2007s. This must be new-new world I have been reading of.
I really liked this one better when I last had it. This is overly ripe with some heat at drying tannins. OUCH! I guess I can always give my last ones away…

expecting much?

you get what you pay for at $20ish

Yes. I loved the 2005.
I always expect ‘much’.
I live for expecting ‘much’.

I ‘dislike’ most 2007 cabs. Most.

There, I said it. newhere

Most? Would you care to elaborate, Mike?

Rick

Certainly, Rick. I have been an outspoken proponent against the praise that this vintage has gotten from the mainstream media and critiques. I think many of the wines are over acidified and lack a mid-palate as well as depth and structure. The CLONYC gang has hit some together and I myself another bunch to come to that determination. I think the fact that people who usually despise Napa cabs for what they are, are now drinking and praising the '07s if proof enough of my theory. I could be wrong and YMMV.

I read some British wine rag about how by fluke, there finally is a good vintage in Napa, and I say BS! Go back to your ‘Claret’…
Euro-styled Cab my ass. [soap.gif]

My money is on backfilling 05s, 04s and 06s and awaiting the 08s…

I love a the classically structured Cabernet Sauvignons that 2001 and 2005 have produced, and I am not alone.

But that’s just broken record me. I am sure people are sick of hearing me yell it into the bottomless chasm…
