TN: 2007 Fichet Tesson

I’ve really enjoyed the good bottles of Meursault from Fichet. Lots of talk about this producer over the last few years. I’ve never visited.

2007 Meursault Tesson. From my passive insulated cellar with an annual fluctuation of temperature of about 8 degrees from a winter nadir of 54F. Second bottle opened tonight. First was clearly oxidised and could not be served to anyone. This bottle #2 is better. Quite structured, prominent refreshing acidity, but supported by good fruit. Impressive. Sadly, the finish has what for me is the telltale of premox, a late appearing unpleasant character to the finish which is hard to describe except as unpleasant. So familiar, and so often experienced in Kongsgaard, Bouchard, Matrot, Sauzet, Boyer-Martenot, etc etc.

So this is a PSA - if you’ve got 07 Fichet, unless it’s frozen, better drink up and enjoy the wine in its youth.

Incidentally, had the 07 Meursault Gruyache (basically a little wedge of Charmes) over the holidays and it was still drinkable but with the telltale finish (thus the reason I opened the Tesson tonight).
