TN: 2007 Domaine Robert Chevillon Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Perrières

  • 2007 Domaine Robert Chevillon Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Perrières - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru (2/28/2012)
Decanted and put back in the cellar to chill for 40 minutes. Darker ruby color. Nose of earth, black raspberry, fennel, forest floor. Blast of brambly black cherry and plum flavors on the palate joined later by layers of anise, cinnamon, earth, and moca. Texture quite firm with some lushness and minerality, balanced by ample acidity. Tannins clearly present but not harsh. Moderately long finish with plenty of smoky raspberry fruit and iron filings. Quite an impressive wine sampled quite young. May take a while to integrate but well worth taking the time. (90 pts.)

Thanks for the note Doug,

I like the '07 Chevillons… bought a small stash of the Pruliers for the cellar after trying a bottle.

Chris,

I like the 07 Chevillons also, to the point of recently ordering more of the NSG Cailles. It’s a great house and the prices are very fair.

I am looking forward to tasting the 07 NSG Les St-Georges someday. Only have one so will wait a bit longer.

The Pruliers is a very good bottle, too.

Cheers,
Doug

A very seriously under appreciated vintage in my view. I am back-filling it, a bit. Volnay is righteous.

Matt,

I absolutely agree. Am finding little gems all over the place, including NSG 1ers from Chevillon and Bouchard. Love the 07 Volnays.

Cheers,
Doug
