2007 Domaine Marquis d’Angerville Volnay 1er Cru - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru (1/20/2012#
Popped and poured. Pristine cork. Brilliant ruby color. Nose of cranberry, bing cherry, alpine streams, schist, cinnamon. Sharp cherry and red raspberry notes on the palate propelled by arching acidity and steely mineral spine. Fine-grained tannins balanced by satin texture, leading to a long, clean finish. Brash, fresh wine barely hinting at complexity at this young age. These 07’s, what a gift. #91 pts.)

Nice Doug.
D’Angerville '07s are klling it young from what I’ve tried.
Both Fremiets and Champans were just delicious in the past couple months.
They can be found for a relative song, too, if you poke around.
This sounds quite nice. Cheers.
Thanks for the good word, Dennis. I’ll definitely be on the lookout.
Rgds,
Doug
Thanks for the note. I bought '07 d’Angervilles, as I do in most vintages, but haven’t tried any yet. Sounds like it might be fun to take a peek!
Cheers,

Robert,
I hope it’s a good showing if you venture to do so, and would be interested in your take on this vintage.
Best,
Doug
The problem with not trying d’Angervilles young is you need to wait two decades before they lose that hard edge. My 1993’s are still a bit angry. It is because of their and Lafarge’s personalities that I just don’t get the common Volnay-Chambolle comparisons.
Nice note, Doug.
Agreed. I have 2 bottles of '07 d’Angerville and I intend to drink them before they shut down. Getting too old to wait for the other side of that period, though it’s tempting.
Volnay is starting to strike me as the sweet spot in 2007.
Brady and Jay,
I agree with both of you. Got enough red burgs that I have to wait on (including 96 and 02 Clos des Ducs). 07’s now!
Cheers,
Doug
