2007 Domaine Jean Royer Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Prestige - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (12/23/2011)
Opaque with a ruby rim. The nose shows stewed berries and not much more. This is completely over the top, and is showing to be a Parkerized, roasted, flabby mess. I went in on these from Garagiste and I can’t comprehend what made this appealing to him. The finish, while lengthy leaves a pink bubblegum aftertaste which is quite off-putting. I tried some of the other Cuvees from this producer, thought I should give them more time which leads me to this bottle. I honestly don’t see any difference between the different bottlings and truly do not understand wines like this.
