2007 Domaine Grand Veneur Châteauneuf-du-Pape - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (11/2/2009)
Opened and not decanted. Consumed over a period of about 3 hours. Dark violet color with an extremely expressive nose of cassis, blackberry, plum and what I can best describe as a “cheesy” note very similar to the smell of Dutch Prima Donna cheese. Flavors are dominated by the tasty fullness of the Grenache (70% in the blend) and the wine has a really nice balance of acidity and tannin. Should develop quite nicely over the next 5 years. Good 07 CdP value for $35. (92 pts.)
