Traci and I consumed these with Mario Batali’s chicken saltimbocca…terrific dish with really terrific wines.

2007 Do Ferreiro Albariño Rías Baixas - Spain, Galicia, Rías Baixas
I have been a big fan of the 200 year old vine version of this wine in the past, but, strangely enough this is my first go round with the “regular” wine.
Had a glass on night one: super racy with limestone/chalk, sea air, white flowers and rich fruit. The briny minerality is striking along with the racy acidity.
On night 2: the acidity has backed off just a bit and left a lot of sea shell, limestone, citrus and white flower. Still tremendously pleasing acidity with very rich fruit…I really enjoyed this wine and look forward to picking up another bottle or two!! (90 pts.)

2005 Radio-Coteau Pinot Noir La Neblina - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
Not sure that I have opened one of these yet but I am glad I waited on Eric’s “basic” Pinot bottling. Richly rewarded!
Nose is sour cherry, pomegranite, earth and a striking mineral characteristic that I don’t often find in CA Pinots.
Palate starts out with more sour cherry, cranberry, mushroom compote/earth then morphs into slightly darker cherries/cranberries with a distinct beet root, earth and mineral component. It’s light but mouthfilling, complex and refreshing…really a terrific young Pinot. (92 pts.)
