Pears, melon, beautiful grassy meadows and limestone on the nose. Fantastic precise pear fruit, acidity and minerality on the palate. Just beautifully done and a very high expression of sauvignon blanc. Gorgeous! Drinking well young, but no hurry - will age quite nicely for years.

I had a bottle of this over dinner at Roy’s with my family and my parents a few weeks back. It’s a gorgeous wine, which seems to marry crowd-pleasing yumminess with the balance, complexity and character that wine enthusiasts can admire. At $60 or so, it’s obviously expensive for a sauvignon blanc, but I think it compares well against most chardonnay, white Rhones, and other premium whites you would find in that price range.
Plus, it has one of the most elegant and understatedly beautiful labels of any wine I’ve ever seen.
I think I paid around $40 on release.

I have one bottle and was going to open this July for my birthday…should I wait a few years?
Having had the 06 and 07 a few times each, here is my totally subjective and speculative opinion: the 07 will probably be good for many years to come, but I don’t think it needs age at this point, and I don’t think it will probably get significantly better with age. So I’d probably drink the 07 in the next year or two, since the risk seems greater than the upside of holding it longer, unless I had a large quantity of them or something and could experiment with aging a few longer.
I just looked on CT. There are only notes from the 04 vintage forward, but the recent notes on the 04 and 05 and quite positive, so I’m probably being fairly conservative.
