2007 Damien Coquelet Chiroubles Vieilles Vignes- France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Chiroubles (12/1/2009)
This wine is enjoyable, but a bit one-dimensional. Sweet cherries and cranberries dominate the palate, and the nose bears much of the same, along with might be perceived as oak, but I doubt it has much new oak treatment. Good acidity, makes for a very nice food wine, finish is short, but still quite nice. (86 pts.)
Todd,
How many days did you follow this wine? I drank a bottle over the long weekend, and found the first day my notes are identical to yours. On day three, I found the wine to have developed some incredible focus. I don’t exactly know how to put it into words, but it went from simple and linear to incredibly tight and focused. Like all the elements were so seamless that the wine seemed to drink like a straight line.
Hmmn, still not making much sense. I loved the wine on day three, how about that!
