2007 Core Elevation Sensation Alta Mesa- USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Barbara County (1/12/2010)
Crystal clear, medium ruby red. A heady and somewhat exotic perfume of red fruit and incense. A red fruit explosion on the palate - rasberries, red cherries, cranberries and asian spice. Very pure, focused and wonderfully balanced. Great finese - would go well with food or alone. Dave Corey is one of California’s most underrated Grenache producers. I’ve always loved Elevation Sensation and this is no exception. Note to myself - buy more in 08! (93 pts.)
Not exactly a prototypical “fruit bomb” Todd. Extreme fruit focus, but this one is light and lively on the palate. A really exceptional charmer that would complement any meat or pasta dish beautifully. I need to call Dave and order more - he scored with this one.
Totally agree with the MM too. I plan to try this soon. My cellar is bursting at the seems, but if MM is as good as ES - and Dave has any 07s left - another order needs to be made.
I am trying one of these on Sunday - I have lots of experience with Dave’s wines through about 2005 - from a friend’s stash. He’s opened two bottles and found them undrinkable for whatever reason. Hence my asking him to bring one over…
I’ve also spoken with dcore about an exclusive…he has something in the works. That said, if anybody wants to get in on any amazing deals from dave & becky, you should seek them out on facebook for weekly specials.
