TN: 2007 Chehalem Pinot Blanc Stoller Vineyards

Found this today at Costco for $12 a bottle and figured what-the-hell…I needed something to go with my house recipe Caesar Salad tonight.

Screw and pour straight from the fridge. Nice aroma of tropical fruit salad (light syrup). Palate is definitely peach & mango with a big streak of acidity that cuts right through the dressing’s richness. For the coin, a fab deal. I imagine it will be a staple around here in the summer months when it is 100 deg + outside. Label states 0.4% RS, but I cannot detect any sweetness at all.

We’ve always enjoyed Chehalem’s whites. Nice find at $12.

Bill, if you enjoy pinot blanc, I’d also recommend Heidi Schrock’s Weissburgunder. It’ll run you a few bucks more (I’m thinking around $20, if my memory serves), but it is a very nice pinot blanc.

+1. I’ve found a lot Chehalem’s reds to be ripe and hot. I’ll have to pay a bit more attention to their whites.

IMHO Chehalem makes the best whites in Oregon. Great stuff, across the board. Especially like the Riesling.

I think the PNs are very good. With their medium weight, they seem suited to early drinking but then don’t come off well. You think they won’t last, but then you open an old one and it is terrific. I have (or at least had) all of there PN going back to at least 98 and every time I open one with some age, I am positively surprised to the point that I should stop being surprised! I had a 2000 Ridgecrest a few weeks back which was terrific - and most 00 OPN is way over the hill. Go figure?
