TN: 2007 Bodegas Ateca / Zabrin Calatayud Atteca Old Vines (Spain, Aragón, Calatayud)

2007 Bodegas Ateca / Zabrin Calatayud Atteca Old Vines - Spain, Aragón, Calatayud (7/12/2009)
WIML89? PURPLE90.

Tasted July 12, 2009.

Opened and served immediately. Followed over about 2 hours. Dark garnet to purple color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of blueberries, jam, black berries, smoke and cassis. Flavors of rich berries, boysenberries, plum and cassis. Just a dash of greeness on the short to medium finish so docked a notch for that. Medium acidity, tannins and body. Drink now with a little air time or over the short term, maybe the medium term if you want to push it but I wouldn’t. (89 pts.)

Thanks for the note Joe. I picked up a bottle of this after an in store tasting. I remember it performing above it’s ~$13 price point solidly.

I have just opened my `07 after cellaring for three years. Big wine here indeed and not much to note after reading excellent TN above. Will post a note later today.
