TN: 2007 Beringer Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Bought a few of these on clearance after tasting.

While not as nice as when I first tasted it, this wine is still a good QPR. It smells of dusty mocha, rasberries, and black cherries. In the mouth, the tannins are surprisingly complacent. Bright red fruits dominate and it also has enough stuffing to go a few more years (but why?). Very well balanced yet approachable. I think this is due to the small amount of Merlot added. A solid QPR to sip without much thought. ***

This was one of our house Cabs along with Ch. Souverain about 10 years ago when both were good and reasonably priced.

I still buy this, mostly out of habit – I pick up a bottle at Costco on occasion. It’s not as impressive as it was a few years ago but not “bad” enough to make me stop buying it on occasion, a good utility wine.
