2007 A Donkey and Goat Syrah - USA, California, North Coast, Mendocino County (2/6/2010)
Nose has improved greatly from last summer - Red berries, earth, violets, pepper, yes pepper! but with a hint of heat. On the palate a mix of cranberry, blueberry, earth and minerals. Perhaps too much cranberry but for the price it’s quite a nice drinker. It reminds me of wines from St. Joseph or Northern Rhone Vin de Pays - great slurpers, especially with food, lots of character, but no transcendence. Very Good!
