TN: 2006 Vicomte Ligier-Belair Vosne Romanee Clos du Chateau

I got this recently. Decided it was time for a test run.

2006 Vicomte Ligier-Belair Vosne Romanee Clos du Chateau

Beautiful crystalline ruby color. A nose that show light reddish fruit and pours out the glass. Primary seductive spicy pinot at this point. The palate is wonderful. The fruit is more on the red side of the spectrum. Spicy. The tannins are present but supply wonderful texture. Silky tannin to me. Great length for a village wine. (I believe this is a lieux-dit?) Wonderful stuff. With time, this will become a feminine jewel. At this point, it is a wonderful young pinot.

A real beauty of a village wine from 2006.

Don

Louis Michel is making some really nice wines, and this is becoming a very nice Domaine as it regains all of its property.

Don,

This is a monopole as I recall and a limited production wine… I had the 04’ on release and it was just as you described lots of spice, silk, great finish and just amazing for a village wine. It drank more like a premier cru as I recall… I will have to seek some 06’s but I know Liger-Belair wines have gone up in price since my 04’ purchase…

Thanks for the note on this amazing producer…
