TN: 2006 Siduri Pinot Noir Hirsch Vineyard (USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast)

  • 2006 Siduri Pinot Noir Hirsch Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (2/21/2010)
14.1% alcohol. Opened one hour before serving but not decanted. This fared better at a slightly cooler temperature, but it is positively rocking. Very light red color, clear at the rim of the glass. Gorgeous nose of red and black cherry, rich earth, minerals, and a spice note. In the mouth, caressing and well concentrated, with excellent concentration on a fairly light frame. The acidity is bright, with great earthy notes framing the beautiful fruit. Long finish that still shows a bit of oak influence. Better with a couple more years, although it is drinking well right now, if you’ve got a few bottles. A-

Thanks for the note Tom. The Hirsch is my favorite Siduri just about every year. I think I may actually still have some 2002. I probably need to crack one open.

Cheers,

Same here, Phillip. I think Adam’s Hirsch is underrated. A terrific wine that ages beautifully. I felt a bit silly opening one so soon, but it is showing well. The 2002 is an excellent wine … I’ve really dug it. Too bad I polished off the last bottle back in 08.

Usually a favorite of mine, too. The 02 is sailing along in fine style.
