Big bold and showy style of rough and ready cabernet. Dense black currant with some camphor and tar. Some slight vanilla notes. Big chewy but sophisticated tannins with a nice balance throughout. I like the turn these have made with the re-branding of One Point Five. 91/100
Worth $60?
Yes, but that’s the top…
Pacheco brought the 2005 One Point Five.
Which I recently had and liked as well. Gone is the ‘wall of oak’ found on previous young Shafer Napas.
According to the Shafer website “suggested California retail” is $70, although I have certainly bought previous vintages for $60ish.
Thanks for the note. I received a 2005 as a gift and look forward to opening it.
