TN: 2006 Scott Paul Cellars Pinot Noir La Paulee (USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley)

  • 2006 Scott Paul Cellars Pinot Noir La Paulee - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley (10/25/2009)
Really lovely, fairly soft and pretty ready to drink, I’m betting it’s best over the 3-4 years. Medium weight combination of very nice fruit and some earthy, loamy notes. Lingering finish with soft oak notes.

This bottling of select plots from Ribbon Ridge, Momtazi, Shea and Stoller vyds has the good features of 06 (rich delicious fruit) without the bad (heat, over-ripeness, low acid with tannin). Not a blockbuster but quite nice and a lovely way to spend an evening with a silly French comedy that certainly goes a long way in explaining the French love of Jerry Lewis. (90 pts.)

Thanks for the note, Chris. This sounds like a very successful '06, where too many of the wines displayed thick fruit textures and low acids, not the things that make OR Pinot nice to me. After really enjoying a bottle of their '07 Audrey, I’m looking forward to getting a taste of the '07 Paulee when it’s released.

Also, go Heels!

Thanks for the kind words! Will unveil the '07 La Paulée and the '08 Audrey here at the winery on Nov. 7th - can’t wait to share these with you all. Cheers!

Thanks for the note. I went light on the 06s but look forward to trying the 07. The 07 Audrey is a beauty … and a steal on futures prices.

Glad to see you here Scott. Hope you are around in early Feb for my annual trip.

Jason

After IPNC this year, Scott generously poured some tasty and fine value Chambolle-Musigny along with a sip of the 07 Audrey, which was irresistable.
