2006 Salinia Heintz Ranch Syrah (Sonoma County, CA)
14.6% abv. Opened and drank on night two after letting it breathe in bottle the day before for an hour+.
Dark purple hue, bursting with Spring violets, iodine, meat and forward black fruit compote; very captivating nose. In the mouth, the richness of the fruit is tempered by excellent, juicy acidity and it finishes long with a firm, tannic grip. A really fine example of cool climate syrah that drinks well now, but it has all of the proper structure to age gracefully into something very special.
