Here’s my note on a nice $19.00 syrah:

  • 2006 Rhys Alesia Syrah Fairview Ranch - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Lucia Highlands (10/31/2009)
    Nose of violets, leather, a touch of vanilla and blueberries. The palate shows lots of primary blueberry and some meaty and smoky tones. After being open for a few hours a nice lush mouthfeel develops. Seems to lack the tannin and backbone for cellaring but a nice early drinker and paired well with skirt steak. Very good.

We had one of these this week, next to a Big Basin Fairview. I thought it showed nice structure and elegance. Very well balenced for my tastes.
