2006 Rhys Alesia Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (3/1/2015)
Surprisingly youthful, but from the glacial cellar that should probably be expected. There is plenty of raspberry fruit and just the beginnings of more developed, forest floor aromas. On the palate it’s still quite bright, and even less developed than in the aromatics. Having lost at least some of its youthful fruit there is now a little bit of tannin poking through, just enough that it balances the fruit. I very much enjoyed drinking this, but I can’t help wondering what might have been in another five years.

Still have two. Will have to dig out. Thanks
Interesting! I know that Rhys’ estate wines take a long time to develop, but had thought that their Alesia wines were earlier drinking.
Oh this has drank well for a few years now. It’s just got plenty of runway.
+1 Glad to have several bottles remaining.
Thanks for the note. Still have 3 and it has been years since I have tasted. I need to dig one out.

Based on this thread, I pulled one over the weekend. David’s note is spot-on. Wonderful aromatics. Very good on the palate; but, the palate has not caught up to the nose. This continues to be most enjoyable and has plenty of life ahead of it. I need to hide my two remaining bottles.
