2006 Rhys Alesia Pinot Noir San Mateo County - USA, California, San Francisco Bay, San Mateo County (10/14/2009)
OK, so I’ve read note after note on CT and WB about what an amazing value this wine is and how great it was. Finally got around to opening one of them to check it out and…damn, this is good. After all the hype, I was worried that the wine wouldn’t live up to it. The wine exceeded the hype IMO.
Gorgeous nose of Raspberries, Violet and some earth underlying it all. On the palate this baby was tasty! Full of Raspberry and some bright cherries making a brief but nice appearance on the mid-palate leading to a nice lingering finish that had a touch of spice. Very well balanced with great acidity to it. It was hard to not keep going back for more so the bottle was drained pretty quickly.
I’ve ordered two vintages from Rhys due to a lot of people I trust liking their wines. This is the first bottle I’ve tried, and now I wish I would have ordered more!!!
