2006 Pax Syrah Obsidian Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Knights Valley (2/2/2010)
Nearly opaque purple. Expressive herbal and black fruit aromas. A smooth, rich palate entry featuring intense black fruit, licorice, smoke and oriental herbs. Very well integrated and great balance. Aftertaste pleases for over 50 seconds. This wine is still a baby and will improve - but it is exciting now. I have two left, which I’ll not touch for another year. (93 pts.)

And the hit parade continues, Thanks Mike
I don’t know if your peeking into my cellar and posting notes on all the wines I own just to tease me, but it is much appreciated.
Nice note. I had one of these about 6 months ago, and it was painfully young but full of potential. From your note it sounds like your experience was similar. I think this one will take quite a while to unwind, but when it does it will be something.
Thanks for the note, Mike. I’ll have to look for some of this - the '05 Obsidion is one of the top Cali Syrah’s I’ve tasted - Amazing nose! I Love the young, intense, wild fruit! Super-ripe, but no hint of plummy/pruney over-ripeness.
Curious to see if there will be any kind of small stylistic shift with Tyler replacing Pax.
Anyone taste any of the '08’s in barrel?
Cheers!
