2006 Olivier Leflaive Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume - France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru (8/19/2009)
Surprised by the bullet-like layered plastic cork? Green tinged color, very shy nose of lemon water and stones. Light and delicate entry…not much going on, but does have a clean and refreshing feel. With some coaxing…the lemon/lime citrus acidity, flint, chalky saline come out…but still “lite”. Seems like it’s in there…just hiding. What decides to peek out is gorgeously clean, yet totally Chablis. Nice green apples, melon, some peach…little spicy tobacco, honey, and classic, yet faint, sea shell funk. I like this wine…but might need a few years to show its all. Could be grand! ++pts (92 pts.)
