2006 Nicolas Potel Gevrey-Chambertin - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin (8/22/2009)
Initially wound up tight like a drum and only after a couple of hours did this start to emerge from it’s shell. Once it had plenty of airtime it showed a nice bit of zippy ripe cherry fruit with very fine tannins. The lighter side of medium bodied and maintains quite a firm grip on the palate with almost a mouth drying finish. Clearly much too young to jump into at this point but given enough time, this should mature pretty well and merit a higher rating. (88 pts.)
