2006 Merryvale Profile - USA, California, Napa Valley (3/15/2011)
Opened and tasted over 12 hours, not decanted. Notes from the end of the day- Very dark in color, almost fully opaque. Coats the glass. Aromas of violets, cigar box, black cherry, and coffee. The forward flavors tend toward cocoa, coffee, tea, and currant/cassis. Mineral lead pencil notes kick in through the sides and middle, lingering through the finish. Firm tannins, plenty of structure. Air really opened up the oak notes on this, needs more time for further integration. (91 pts.)
