A pleasant surprise of a value Cabernet from Napa. I picked this up from my local wine shop, and found out that the winery owner lives a few blocks away from me and the store. He’s an old school guy who apparently dislikes over-oaked red wines.

Tasted @ ~60degF. Dark plum and black currant aromas that seem tight. Some pleasant herbs but not green. Medium-full bodied in the mouth but not oaky. Enveloping tannins are fine and firm. Finish is lingering and hides the 14.5% alcohol reasonably well. With time, the tannins become a bit softer while the aromas open up. Resist the urge to run this wine through a Vinturi (or similar device) as the resulting wine in my test glass had opened up aromas but exhibited startling grippy and drying tannins. A good value at $19
