  • 2006 Louis Jadot Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Ursules - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru (4/9/2011)
    I have always liked this bottling from Jadot, and this wine underscored why. It had a very nice Bueane nose of sous bois, earth, strawberries and flowers. Very enjoyable on the palate too. Sweet red fruit, perfurmy flowers, another toss of earthiness, all in a clean, balanced package. It still showed a bit of the hardness of youth towards the back-palate, where the decently long finish was more earthy and minerally, but all in all I liked it quite a bit. (91 pts.)

Good to hear, Paul. Have you had the '99? I’ve been contemplating that wine, although I suspect the '02 is more approachable at this point.

Can’t speak about the 99, but the 02 is in a pretty good place, or at least was a couple of months ago.

I had the 99 in 2009 accompanying a black truffle pizza. I thought it very good and ready to drink, but no hurry to do so. I am a big fan of this bottling. It’s a no brainer purchase for me in most vintages.

Opened an 06 Beaune Avaux on Thursday which was a bit skinny and very unevolved FWIW.
