TN: 2006 Les Cailloux (Lucien et André Brunel) - Châteauneuf-du-Pape

NOSE: light, spicy red fruits; roasted herbs; slightly underbrushy; nose does start to darken with air.

BODY: ruby color of medium-light depth; medium-light bodied.

TASTE: spicy red fruits from the nose are repeated on the palate; not even close to overblown; elegant; “grenachey”; a touch smoky; hint of cherry; light blueberry; 14% alc.; this does gain some weight with air, but it remains fresh and elegant; clean, not funky. On the whole, given the blend, I was incredibly surprised at the “lightness” and elegance of this wine. It may have needed more air.

I was suprised at how light this was as well…not my fave…

I feel the same way … don’t really know what to do with my other bottle. I might just try giving it tons of air when I pop it, as the bottle I noted on above was showing signs of gaining weight near the end of the bottle.
