This was £19.80 and although not sink material it was rather like a £6 supermarket wine with its simple sickly sweet bruised strawberry fruit, straight forward structure and monolithic depth. Overall, dreadful value. 14.5%vol, 83pts. [nea.gif]
After the 2004, this bottling - to my taste - went way downhill. Or my palate changed. Or both!
Overall, not a premium producer in Oregon anyway and their 2006’s really were not good.
i still have a couple of bottles of this from I think 2004… cooking liquid maybe?
No quite cooking liquid just yet but I wouldn’t expect much…
i am going to open a bottle right now. stay tuned.
i spoke too soon. i can’t find them or i dispensed with them already. i will have a look again tomorrow when i have more patience.
I tried this a while ago and thought it was good, although not great. Their Stermer vineyard was my favorite by far though, killer pinot.
The Thea Selection is the bottom end of their pinots. The 05 Stermer,Meyer, etc, are quite good. All 90 plus wines!
Haven’t really drank any of the 06s, still letting them rest.
Don’t have any of the 06 Thea’s.
Don’t discount Lemelson. For the $ they are consistently one of the valley’s best. The Tikka Run pinot gris is also tasty!
I thought the 05 Thea’s was decent for the scratch about a year ago. Indeed there are many other better examples, but as an east-coaster at times I must take what I can get when it comes to Oregon PN, and this has wide availability.
I’m also not a fan of the 06 vintage in Oregon in general, so not surprised by the lack of love.
Thanks for the feedback. £19.80=$31.93 on the XE.com when viewed a minute ago. Is this bottling the same amount of $$$ on your side of the pond?
$30 is about the right number, we can sometimes pick it up on sale for less. We have less transport fees probably.
