a little too much candy for me but this is the early end of the drinking window for me too be drinking this wine, but we had a honey baked ham to eat and I have quite a few of these. I found the fruit to be nice, the kirsch a little strong for my taste. I also recognized some flavor profiles that were consistent with other times I drank KB’s. Too yojung for me, I will try again mid 2010.

Another fine example of candied wine by KB. Does the term “overripe fruit” come to mind when you drank this wine?

I call it cherry coke, grain alcohol, with an extra dollop of cherry syrup!

But it’s something wine lovers stand in long waiting lists for. God bless choice in wines.

I actually opened this bottle last night. It was a little austere on night one, but I had a good feeling about night two. The heat had left, and the fruit wasn’t overpowering or candied. I think this wine definitely needs a lot of air if you’re going to open it now. If I open another one this year, I might split it into two bottles and let it sit overnight.

I felt like I drank all mine too young … The 06s just didn’t strike me as my favorite from the get-go, but I think they just needed a little bit more time to come together.

I think the cherry coke is close, if it is cherry coke made with coca-cola and grenadine not from the can. After posting this i noticed Ihad a glass or so still in the bottle, I had decanted the rest, and I agree witht he comments above the extra time really makes a difference. Really earthy flavors come through and the sweetness gets much more muted. The only thing I feel that is missing is a little tannin.

I agree with the lack of tannin. I only have 2 or 3 06 left because I dont think they will be good in 5 years for that very reason.

I have also been drinking up my 06’s before going through my remaining 05’s.
