Normally I don’t go to far out of my way for the a Cab - Syrah blend, as I think they do the job quite nicely when vinified with their normal blending partners or own their own, but this is a pretty successful example. As the fruit comes from Cayuse, you can certainly sense that with a good dose of funk and all the other descriptors usually in a Cayuse syrah. But this also has a bit richer mouth feel, perhaps due to more new oak, low acid and tannin (at least what I could perceive). Syrah flavors of smoky blackberries dominate, but the back end shows the Cabernet side, with nice additions of cedar and mint. Interesting wine, lots of fun to drink, and one I think for the near term. (91 pts.)
