TN: 2006 Jones Family The Sisters (USA, California, Napa Valley)

  • 2006 Jones Family The Sisters - USA, California, Napa Valley (12/17/2011)
How is it possible this has returned to youthfulness, at least in the nose? It’s all sweet primary blueberries, ripe black plum and cassis. Palate has a creamy purity with tons of richness, elegance and seduction. Black currant, plums and blackberries reign; some graphite, cocoa and cardamom are showing themselves as well. The tannins have resolved nicely, so forget what I said about being bottled yesterday. Balance is ultra deft and finish remains true to the good things I spoke of. Interestingly, this is somewhat different tonight than I remember it, but nothing less than spectacular still.
This has remained one of my favorite wines in this vintage. It’s all about being pure & true. Just grabbed 2 more last month and I will always purchase them as I find them; it’s a good plan. (95 pts.)

Nice note as always Mike. I remember the 2005 being a highlight of mine during our Jones Family dinner. Still have a few of the Sisters rolling around in the Eurocave. Always a great wine. Cheers!

Had the 2004 a couple of weeks ago; superb. You can’t go wrong with this label.

I agree. Always a sure thing. Nice people too. win/win

They really are great people. They were out in Fort Worth for a wine dinner, where they poured the 2008 Sisters, and 2005, 2006, 2007 Estate. All were superb - I just wish I did have a bad cold that night/week. A couple weeks earlier I had a 2003 Estate, which was firing on all cylinders, and was much better than when I had it after release (in fact, I didn’t like it at all after release).
