Had this wine 4-5 yrs ago, delicious big sweet berry juice. Had the other night…Disjointed, nose was more alcohol than berry, taste was better than the nose, but still nothing to write home about. Parker gave it 96 with 10-15 yrs ahead of it. I’m thinking drink up quick. My bottle?
Parker aside, my guess is that you’ve had a palate change or you gravitate towards wines now that are not of that style any longer? I’m seeing yuor experience through my own lens, Andrew, as I feel like I have had a # of experiences like you describe above.
That may be part of it Frank, but this bottle was very disjointed and of zero pleasure. I went to Cellartracker and some recent tasters have loved the wine. I am definitely leaning to more finesse, this bottle certainly had none.
Andrew, don’t let other TNs dissuade what you experience. Just because others have liked it does not mean you should discount your reaction. It may be a solid wine but if your palate is moving and changing, neither the wine is bad nor are those reviews a definer of what your palate tells you. Not trying to be all philosophical up in here but instead giving you another perspective.
